Wow! Thats way back!

38:18
I got my Diploma in Herbal Medicine before the name change. A long time ago lol

45:08
Jennifer, how did you go about starting your aromatherapy business?

47:06
IN your opinions what is the best company for website and social media development to start a new business?

48:42
Jennifer, do you do health intakes for your clients when you sell blends?

52:51
Paula, not for signature premade blends at this time, but I do for personal consults to create blends that are unique for their wellness goals. If that helps. I gather a ton of information on that client and I charge for that time with them as well and the time to research their blend.

54:30
Erin I grew my functional medicine business during my program. As I learned more and researched more topics, it allowed me to elaborate on my website and further help my existing personal training clients.

56:38
Jennifer, ok. Through ACHS, EO safety has been a huge thing with me. I won't give a blend until I know the health history of the individual. I've heard too many horror stories. So I guess my job becomes harder lol

If you want to start your business, I recommend you shadow or invest in a company you love to get a feel for what you like about their products and services. Visit websites you love and keep notes on what you love about their sites and what you want from your social media and web-based marketing. Keep a journal on it all, people who journal and make lists have a higher success rate in seeing their goals go through than those who don't. I love Leonie Dawnsons self guided business journals for that inspiration. Connect with your community and ALWAYS be a good patron to businesses around you. Make friends and connections. That is all great work you can do now. :)

Hi Renee, My webplanner has been my webplanner for 10 plus years now! She has designed all my websites and they only get better and better. You need someone who can do a brand pack for you, understand who you are artistically and design wise, and also understand todays technology and security. You will need to pay, but interview your webplanners, they need to work with you for their money, and make sure they take you seriously and act timely. A lot of time webplanners do not understand the nature of holistic medicine, so find someone who kind of gets it, it helps. Hire a professional for sure.

I noticed Khetnu had fabulous photos, I forgot to mention GET PROFFESSIONAL photos if you can afford it, good head shots, photos of you with your products or mock clients, and of your office! :)

01:02:54
Renee I design all my websites, WordPress has seemed to work the best for me. Beginner websites, I would suggest Squarespace

01:03:08
Squarespace is a great one, very easy for beginners!

01:04:21
My current aroma website is being built on shopify. I think you can also set that up yourself if you do not have a webplanner.

01:04:35
Renee, I design my website and social media all myself. I use Squarespace for my website.

Great advice for those of us starting out!

01:05:53
I have gotten a lot of contacts through social media

01:06:02
thank you Jennifer 💕

01:06:19
my pleasure Erin

01:07:00
Do you recommend using free tutorials from the major social media outlets or hiring someone?

01:07:31
Social Media Examiner is a great podcast to check out

01:07:41
FREEEEEEEEE!!! Start there, you will be surprised on what you can learn on your own, then ask for professional advice later. I hired people to do that, and they never quite did it as good as me.

01:07:58
Use CANVA to make your posts, invest in that instead if you like making posts!

01:08:13
I own a social media marketing company and website design company in addition to my functional medicine practice and I live by Social Media Examiner to keep up with the ever changing algorithms.

01:08:13
Ohh I will check that out to Cindy, I never heard of that.

01:08:29
Thank you so much for the referrals, what a blessing!

01:08:40
I agree with Jennifer, grow into your business. Start free, lots of tutorials

01:09:59
Are these platforms user friendly for assessability options and needs?

01:10:05
Canva is a great design tool. Check out Unsplash for free gorgeous images

01:10:16
Melissa very user friendly

01:10:37
You’re too good ;)

01:11:51
Yes Erin, I attend and am a volunteer for AIA

01:12:09
yes Erin all the time

01:12:58
AIA -Alliance of International Aromatherapists It is a wonderful way to meet people and beef up your resume. I also love to do yoga conferences and participate in those types of things to grow my businesses. They keep me educated and it is a great way to cross market and learn new skills

01:15:33
Two of the image/design resources that Cindy mentioned are here: https://unsplash.com/ and https://www.canva.com/ these are great resources that you can create really powerful graphics on a budget.

01:15:37
How important is board exams to validate your credntials?

01:19:06
This is a great 3rd party software at a low cost to help you organize your social media posts and allows you to connect multiple outlets https://www.socialpilot.co/

01:20:16
Do any of you do freelance writing in holistic health? Any tips for finding freelance job opportunities?

01:20:24
what about getting materials and merchandise? Any advice on difficulties on starting?

01:20:35
will we get the replay? i logged in late.

01:21:03
Good question Noemi!

01:21:06
I also use Canva to design all my content. I also invested in purchasing templates to use in Canva from Biz Template Babe. These templates have been a HUGE time saver! I am not a graphic designer so finding all the correct sizes, etc. is annoying but that is all on the templates. It is literally just dropping in my images and my content. They all look professional and don’t take up all my time to create!

Thanks Erin!

01:27:21
Check out Leonie Dawson here at her website: https://leoniedawson.com/ her website is also a great example of high quality photography being a worthwhile investment.

01:28:11
You ladies are amazing and have been so helpful and inspiring! Grateful for the many gifts you have given tonight!

01:29:41
Marie! You have to value your time, their time and your demographics. Think per hour, what are you worth for labor. I think $50 after I pay taxes is always a good goal for me, top of the line services are $120 for 90 minutes plus the cost of product in some cases. Ask yourself can I upsell on that session, so maybe the cost is lower per labor because you can make more on products later. Good question, take you time thinking about it. Also think about research, travel time if you have to travel, overhead costs, and phone time... think of the value of what you are putting in and what the average market value is in your area too.. I usually tell my yoga students to charge $45 per hour to start out here, as they are still young in their knowledge, and work your way up to $75 an hour...

01:30:22
Marie, to price services, look for comparable services in your area and then look at the qualifications of those practitioners. Know your worth and don’t undervalue you and your experience. Pricing seems to always be a thought part of the business but there are so many things to consider.

01:30:44
